Built for small businesses and other Tampa Bay employers of 5 to 100 people. HR for small businesses

An employee, an auditor or a lawyer just asked for a document you don't have.

You operate in Pinellas or Hillsborough and haven't heard of the county wage-theft ordinances.

Four steps, about three weeks.

  1. 01

    Discovery call

What you do, how many people you have, where they work, and what's already keeping you up at night.

  2. 02

    Document review

I go through your handbook, pay records, personnel files, I-9s, postings and contractor agreements.

  3. 03

    Findings and fixes

A written report: what's exposed, what it could cost, and exactly what to do about each item, in order.

  4. 04

    Implementation

I help you make the changes, from rewritten policies to reclassifications, and check back in a year.

HR Compliance FAQ

Questions I hear most.

All FAQs

Which laws apply to a company my size?

It depends on headcount. FLSA wage-and-hour rules, I-9s, OSHA and Florida law apply from your first hire. Title VII and the ADA start at 15 employees, the ADEA at 20, Florida's E-Verify mandate at 25, and FMLA and ACA employer rules at 50. Pinellas and Hillsborough add county ordinances on top.

Do you handle Pinellas and Hillsborough county rules?

Yes. Both counties have wage-theft ordinances and human-rights ordinances that go beyond Florida law, and I build them into your policies and complaint process.

What happens after the review?

You get a prioritized plan, not just a list of problems. I help you implement it, starting with the items that carry the most risk, and I check in annually so it doesn't go stale.

Can you help if we've already had a complaint?

Yes. I help you respond, document properly, and fix the underlying issue. If it needs a lawyer, I'll say so and work alongside them.

How long does a compliance review take?

Typically two to three weeks from the first conversation to a written plan, depending on how many people you have and how organized the records are.
